Nachfolger des Alessandro Algardi

Two Saints, 1670/80

About the object

These two saints functioned as sketches, so called bozzetti, for sculptural figures of the altar. Their devotional posture probably related to an altarpiece placed between them. These models originated from a successor of the Italian sculptor Alessandro Algardi, who, alongside Gian Lorenzo Bernini, is considered the main representative of Roman baroque sculpture.
