Christ on a Donkey, 1350/60
About the object
When Christ rode on a female donkey into Jerusalem on the Sunday before Easter, the people paid homage to him and spread palm fronds before him. In the Palm Sunday procession, this was followed with a "Palmesel" (life-sized statue of Christ on a female donkey borne on a cart). This severely damaged figure comes from Oberrotweil. The cart and its wheels are missing.
