About the object

An altarpiece was created featuring the Adoration of the Magi for the private chapel of the lawyer and court chancellor Stürtzel in Freiburg. The Epiphany altarpiece, which was rebuilt in the 19th century, is now situated in the Freiburg Minster. It was originally fitted with these mounted figures. Its current colourful appearance dates back to 1600.
