Priska von Martin

1950er Jahre

About the object

The small-format bronze is reminiscent of an archaic votive figure, its effect unfolding from the sculptural form that eschews anatomically accurate reproduction. The female nude and the horse as individual motifs are important constants in Priska von Martin's oeuvre. They are often combined as equestrian figures. This sculpture, in which the woman and animal, standing eye to eye as an equal pair and interacting intimately, is a symbol of the artist's personal relationship with the horse.
