This woodcut is something of a mystery because it has neither an artist's signature nor a seal. In addition, the relationship between the depicted couple, an adult woman and a younger man, is unclear. The uncovered leg of the woman suggests that there is an erotic relationship between the two. The flickering candle indicates that the scene is set at night.
