About the object

The horse torso has been mounted as a free-floating element above the base plate and appears to be highly animated due to the light patina covered with irregular dark spots. Bridled, the horse is waiting to be harnessed to a carriage, which it will not be able to pull without its absent legs. The horse is an important recurring motif in Priska von Martin's work and is usually depicted with a rider. The torso represents the injured ideal figure as well as transience.
