About the object

Richard Schindler's »Kool Killer Systems« are small boxes that look like pieces of technical equipment and can be found in various places in the collection presentation, but without an accompanying caption. The works are thus externally - in terms of its colour, shape and location - difficult to distinguish from ordinary temperature gauges or similar apparatuses common to museums. Referencing Baudrillard in their titles, these objects are, however, empty vessels and have no function whatsoever. Mimetic in appearance, these artworks, as Schindler himself writes, »are simply there. Hidden in plain sight from the unwitting gaze«.
