Dominik Weber
Artist’s Daughter Wearing a Grey Dress, 1860 - 1870
About the object
The museum acquired a total of five paintings by Dominik Weber from the estate of the artist's daughter, Sophie Ansfeld. This is one of them. It shows Sophie as a young woman in a buttoned-up, high-necked day dress replete with a fashionable collar and black velvet ribbon with a medallion featuring a putto. Her fringe also reflects a trend popular in the 1870s.
