Mary tapestry (antependium), 1420/30
About the object
This woollen tapestry comes from the Adelhausen Dominican monastery in Freiburg and was once used as altar hanging. Three main scenes of the Life of the Virgin Mary are featured: the Annunciation, the Visitation (encounter of Mary and Elizabeth) and the Adoration of the Magi. St Catherine and St Augustine are standing to the right.
