About the object

According to the inscription, this magnificent trophy was a gift from the Breisgau Knighthood to the City of Freiburg as a sign of everlasting and deep friendship. The actual cup section of this trophy is carried by a moor, the lid is crowned by the double eagle of the Holy Roman Empire. It holds a shield of St. George in its talons - the Breisgau Knighthood’s coat of arms.
