Wax stick
wax taper with Einsiedeln Madonna, 19. Jahrhundert
About the object
This devotional object comes from the Benedictine monastery Einsiedeln in Switzerland, which was a particularly popular destination for Black Forest pilgrims. The miraculous image of the »Black Madonna of Einsiedeln« decorates the wax taper which served the pilgrims even at home as a form of protection and worship.
