About the object
The "First Liebenau Crucifix" comprises two nested parts - the cross and pedestal - and could be used both as a standing crucifix and as a processional cross. The inscription bearing the donor’s name is located on the spike at the base of the cross, which is inserted into the pedestal and therefore is hidden from view. The crucifix still has its original leather storage cases, which resemble small suitcases.
