About the object
Woodcut publisher Nishimuraya Yohachi published a special series featuring views of the Kabuki theatres. They show the interiors of the theatres with a variety of actors preparing for the stage or celebrating after a successful performance. In addition to the everyday life behind the stage, we get a glimpse of various props, such as swords and wigs, but also advertising banners.
