Wilhelm Trübner
Half-length Portrait of a Man in Armor, 1913
About the object
With visible brushstrokes and using an alla-prima technique, Trübner has veritably thrown this man in armour in the composition. Despite the rough execution, which earned him the nickname "Fleckelestrübner," the reflective metal of the armour catches the eye. By reducing it to the bare essentials, Trübner lends autonomy to this painting technique.
