About the object
This sketch is related to a gouache painted by Morat featuring Freiburg with a pond and trees in the foreground. The lines were traced either using tracing paper or a stylus to reproduce the composition. The tower of the cathedral was omitted and the Ludwigskirche, which was not finished until 1839, was added later in the margin.
