The fruit named here in the title is a recurring theme in Bissier’s work. This work shows how much Bissier repeatedly sought to explore the visual potential of ink: although he worked exclusively with black ink in the 1930s, the tonal gradations of grey wrought by diluting the ink with water to varying degrees are almost colourful.
