Rudolf Großmann
Oskar Kokoschka, um 1922-1925
About the object
Rudolf Großmann became known predominently for his many portrait drawings of contemporaries, which often also illustrated his journalistic texts in magazines and daily newspapers. The artist Oskar Kokoschka, whom Großmann drew on several occasions, is also one of these contemporaries. Here, Kokoschka's face appears in half-profile. His facial expression is ambiguous: his eyes are almost shut, his upper body tilted slightly backwards. Is he in a state of repose, even rapt in thought, or is he haughtily looking down at something?
