Duffner, Adolf

Three-quarters-length Portrait of Agatha Duffner, née Dorer (1766-1842), 1872

About the object

In 1872, Adolf Duffner painted his grandparents, Agatha and Ignaz, in these two portraits, which are probably based on two earlier (and smaller) paintings by an unknown painter. Other copies have survived. Agatha Duffner is from Schönwald in the Black Forest and is depicted in her traditional costume.
