Biography
John Davis (1831 - 1903) was born in London and settled in Sāmoa in 1873 and opened a photography studio in Matafele, Apia. Alongside his photography practice, he took on the role as Apia’s postmaster in the 1890s. In 1886, Davis hired Alfred John Tattersall as an assistant, and after his death, Tattersall took over Davis’ studio and negatives.
