Biography
Hans Offe, D.Phil, born 10 April 1884 in Moers, was an author and worked intermittently as a supply teacher for the German School Association of South West Africa. Offe travelled extensively in Africa between February 1934 and March 1935. Between 1936 and 1941, Offe was a member of the “Reichkolonialbund” (Reich Colonial League), subsequently serving as a District Chief from August 1936 until February 1937. During this time, Offe helped to stage a colonial play at the municipal theatre and was engaged in efforts to name a street after Theodor Leutwein. During the Second World War, Offe worked as an interpreter for the Gestapo. Offe died in 1982 in Freiburg.
