Johann Baptist Kirner
Right hand of the fortune-teller woman, vor 1846
About the object
This detailed study of the figure of the fortune-teller concentrates upon her right hand holding the cards, which has otherwise not been elaborated in detail. With a few deft pencil strokes, Kirner reproduces the complex arrangement of the fingers by means of delicate shading. The preparatory pencil drawings were made in for the painting Die Kartenschlägerin (The Fortune-Teller).
