The Crucified Christ, 1. Hälfte 12. Jahrhundert
About the object
The sculpture, the cross of which is missing, represents the old four-nail type. Christ's hands and the parallel pair of feet are each pierced individually. In later times, Christ's feet are placed one over the other and pierced with one nail (so-called three-nail type. The figure is from Oberwittstadt near Bad Mergentheim. Its colouration has not survived.
