Tennenbach Altar: Presentation in the temple, 1420/30
About the object
The altarpiece is associated with the town of Staufen, but probably comes from the Tennenbach Cistercian monastery near Emmendingen. The middle section has been lost. It contained many sculptures. The wings were split into sections. Scenes from the Life of Mary and the Passion of Christ are depicted in the Augustinermuseum. Other sections depicting scenes of Christ's Passion now reside in Karlsruhe.
