About the object
Wearing representative clothes and with powdered hair, this gentleman poses in three-quarter profile for the artist. The latter catches the man's questioning demeanour and slightly sardonic smile. Painted in earthy tones and using fine brushwork, the portrait is full of detail right down to the gentleman’s translucent sideburns.
