The young girl is fashionably dressed: epically-proportioned gigot or leg-o-mutton sleeves bellow out from the flowered bodice of her gown; her waist is tightly cinched. Striking gold earrings and a three-strand coral necklace provide colourful contrasts. The fashionable details date the portrait between 1825 and 1835.
