About the object
Wentzinger was commissioned in 1757 with the task of designing the decoration of the collegiate church of St Gallen. In a series of small terracotta designs, known as bozzetti. The Freiburg artist prepared the large-format stucco reliefs that line the ambulatory there. This is the only example of the designs depicting scenes from the life of the church's patron, St Gall.
