Bishop's staff, Anfang 16. Jh.
About the object
This curved ornamental attachment has been preserved from a bishop's crosier. The hexagonal shaft is adorned with figures of various saints: St. John, a holy bishop, St Catherine, St Gall, Michael and Nicholas. The curve of the crook is adorned with tendrils on the outer edge and a Madonna on a crescent moon in front of a radiate crown with an engraved sun on the back. How and when this crosier became a part of the Minster's treasure is unknown.
