The statement “Black Lives Matter'' is printed on this Covid face mask in white capital letters on black fabric. It refers to the transnational political and social movement concerned with confronting the experience of racial profiling, racism and all forms of violence, murder of and police brutality toward people of colour. The mask was a defining feature of images of the Black Lives Matter protests that first took place in the USA and spread globally during the Covid-19 pandemic.
