Twin figure, 1870 - 1930
Ibeji sporting a raised hairstyle, which has been elaborated using the chip-carving technique and painted a dark blue. The protruding eyes have hollows that represent pupils. There is a metal plug in the left eye. The ears are set a long way back on the head. Decorative scars are carved in lines running vertically over the temples and cheeks and horizontally across the chin. The figure is wearing a blue and red necklace, black waist beads and a bracelet made of blue and black beads on both wrists.
