About the object
The painting is a portrait of Karl Jaegler's wife. Jaegler was a member of the clock manufacturer Fürderer & Cie for 45 years. The portraits of the manufacturers and industrialists of the Black Forest reveal an emerging sense of who they were and of their status. One became aware of one's standing and one's role, presenting this accordingly.
