Glove puppet | Yayoroba
Glove puppet "Yayoroba: the beautiful woman", 1975 - 1987
About the object
The stick puppet probably represents Yayoroba, i.e. "beautiful woman" – a representation of the ideal woman for the Bamana people – who combines beauty, grace and dignity. She displays the "koo taa" hairstyle (plaits running from the forehead to the back) typical of Bamana women at the beginning of the 20th century.
