Johann Baptist Kirner
Sow - Italian landscape / group of men (verso), 1832 - 1837
About the object
The pen-and-ink drawing of a sow and an Italian landscape fills the page of the sketchbook. The unusually small head of the domesticated sow corresponded, in the 19th century, even more to the wild species than is the case today. This breed can also be seen in Kirner’s Italian peasant family. A group of men is sketched on the back of the paper.
