Johann Martin Morat
Zweites Drittel 19. Jh.
About the object
This study depicts Constance from a north-easterly aspect. The towers of the cathedral and the Stephanskirche accentuate the townscape as prominent vertical axes. The municipality, which became the capital of the district on the lake in 1806, is still of a manageable size by comparison to the city today. The landscape in the foreground occupies a lot of space and depicts Constance and environs as a pleasant destination for a day trip.
