Priska von Martin
Standing Female Torso (Blue Collage), vermutlich um 1959
About the object
The blue watercolour silhouette of a standing female nude is borne by its uniform block colouration and dynamism of the lines. It is reminiscent of the work of Henri Matisse, the contemporary of Martins, who died in 1954. Priska von Martin depicted her "blue women" in different poses and techniques. In addition to Paul Klee, von Martin also engaged with works by Pablo Picasso, whom she particularly admired, Henri Matisse and Max Ernst.
