Vaulting Couple on a Horse, um 1981
About the object
The horse, over which two women are vaulting, forms the centre of the work on account of its blood-red colouration. Red accents also cover the women and are framed by spots of black paint. The scene originates from the world of the circus, which, with the resumption of nationwide touring in the 1950s after the war, became an important motif for the artist. Von Martin also addresses this theme using a variety of materials.
