About the object
The outline of two horses drawn on a textured ground is reminiscent of Palaeolithic cave paintings. The horses are clearly galopping. One of them has already begun to make its way out of the frame of the composition. Priska von Martin references the spectacular discovery of the Lascaux cave painting in the 1940s here, which posed questions relating to the origins of art and man's image of the relationship of man and animal.
