Hendrick Goltzius

In the battle between Rome and Alba, two groups of triplets representing the armies of the Roman Horatii and the Albanian Curiatii engage in battle. Although the Curiatii killed two of the Horatii, they were eventually killed by the last of the brothers, Publius Horatius. Thus Rome triumphed over Alba.
