Titus Manlius Torquatus defeated an unusually tall Gaul in one-to-one combat. He captured a necklace from him, which earned him his nickname Torquatus (from the Latin torquis, “necklace”). He is not yet wearing it here, however. All of the series' heroes wear tight-fitting, almost transparent clothing that highlights their prominent musculature.
