Priska von Martin
Seated Female Nude, vermutlich um 1959
About the object
The blue watercolour silhouette of a seated female nude is borne by its uniform block colouration and the dynamism of the lines. It is reminiscent of the work of Henri Matisse, a contemporary of von Martin, who died in 1954. Priska von Martin depicted her "blue women" in different poses and techniques. In addition to Paul Klee, von Martin also engaged with works by Pablo Picasso, whom she particularly admired, Henri Matisse and Max Ernst.
