What are both these two gentlemen – the French writer Tristan Bernard (1966-1947) and the critic Alfred Kerr (1867-1948) – looking at? They met in Paris; Kerr wrote several reviews of Bernard's plays in the 1920s. In this case, the two are standing in close proximity. Are they engrossed in a painting, listening to a performance, or waiting for something to happen? Großmann masterfully creates a reduced line drawing from the two silhouettes of their heads, one behind the other in half-profile.
