About the object
Nailsmiths are a special branch of blacksmithery. A large number of nailsmiths are known to have plied their trade in the Black Forest. The nailsmiths' guild insignia with its double-headed eagle also bears witness to this fact. Nails were so important that a journeyman had to make well over a thousand nails to obtain the rank of Master.
