About the object
George Washington became the first president of America in 1789. Before the Baden Revolution, the Winterhalder workshop produced portraits of Washington and Marquis de La Fayette of France for Americans and democratically-minded Europeans. The pictures became extremely popular following the 50th anniversary of the American Revolution.
