About the object
The generously decorated pedestal is the outstanding feature of this crucifix, which can almost be considered a counterpart to the plain black wooden cross. Decorated with putti and floral wreaths, it stands on three feet. The number three may possibly be interpreted as an allusion to the Trinity. According to Christian doctrine, Father, Son and Holy Spirit are to be understood as the unity of God.
