Johann Baptist Kirner
Farmhouse parlour in Lauterbrunnen with a peasant woman, knitting, and a peasant, reading, 1829 - 1831
About the object
A closer look reveals that this study is unfinished: the board chair is only sketched out and not painted in. Kirner presumably found it unnecessary to complete the work after trying out colour and spatial effects. The study originated during Kirner’s stay in Lauterbrunnental (Switzerland). He used it for his Swiss guardsman.
