The young man is wearing a festive costume from Betzingen-Reutlingen in the Neckar-Alb region. He has come to the fortune-teller to hear what the future holds for him, together with his mother and sister. What the fortune-teller says creates consternation among the listeners. In a gesture of helplessness, the man grasps his head with his right hand.
