About the object
One person can be seen walking while carrying a heavy load, while another rests next to the base of a large stone lantern. The large torii stone gate heralds a Shinto shrine further ahead, while the pair of stone lanterns are labelled jōyatō, or guideposts that were illuminated at night using candles and rapeseed oil.
