A young woman is seen performing the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. She has the brazier and iron kettle with the boiling water in front of her and is in the process of cleaning the tea bowl for use. During the Meiji period, the tea ceremony changed from an artform performed mostly by men to one favoured by women.
