Three-Story Pagoda by Kiyomizu Temple, Kyoto, 1880 - 1920
About the object
This is the famous three-story pagoda in the Kiyomizu Temple complex. Restored in the early seventeenth century, it is over thirty metres high and, as such, one of the tallest of its kind in Japan. The pagoda has enjoyed enduring popularity as a motif in images of Kyoto.
