Female Saint (Barbara?), um 1410/1420

About the object

The figure is from Glotterbad near Freiburg. It is made up of two hollow halves; her entire coat was originally gilded. It has been suggested that the figure represents the virgin martyr Barbara. Had her hands not been missing, she would have been holding a tower.
