Swathed in warm clothing, ten kabuki actors pass the Ryogoku Bridge, an architectural landmark in Edo, today's Tokyo. Although such depictions were extremely unrealistic, they sold well, as the depicted scene set in the heart of the capital gave the fans a certain proximity to their stars.
